We wait all year to partake in all the fun family activities available to us in the Portland metro during the summer. Festivals, camping trips, picnics, parks, there’s a little bit of summer fun for everyone in your family. Take special care this season to protect your family from sunstroke, heatstroke, sunburns, and dehydration with these easy to follow summer skincare tips:
Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. These mid-day hours are the peak time for exposure to UV radiation.
Always protect your skin from the sun, even if it’s overcast. UV radiation threatens your skin health whether or not you’re spending all day or just a few hours outside.
Sunglasses and hats can be significantly beneficial to your eyes and skin during the hotter months. If you are going to be outside for an extended period of time on a regular basis, consider sun protective clothing and accessories can ensure your comfort all season long.
Always wear sunscreen. Choose a formula with an SPF of 30 or higher that offers protection from both UVA and UVB light (aka broad spectrum). Reapply sunscreen every two hours and/or after swimming or sweating.
